DIGITAL PLANNING: TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMME LAUNCHED

Following the publication of Transforming Places Together: Scotland’s Digital Strategy for Planning last November, today (March 24th) marks the launch of the Scottish Government Digital Planning: Transformation programme.

As a result, not only can new systems and public services now be designed and delivered, but improvements can be made to planning data and digital skills can be advanced; delivering on the 5 missions which were initially outlined in the digital strategy.

This work is underpinned by a commitment of £35m across the next 5 years. This is a fantastic opportunity in which planning authorities will be given the tools to collaborate and build an exciting future for Scotland.

With digital innovation at the forefront, this new programme will go a long way in delivering key economic benefits to Scotland as set out in the Scottish Government’s Digital Strategy for Planning, which states up to 1,600 new jobs could be created, planning authorities could save £20 million and £200 million could be generated for the Scottish economy over the coming years.
