Celebrating 9 Years of the Digital Office For Scottish Local Government

Today, marks a significant milestone - 9 years since the Digital Office was established to drive digital transformation across Scotland’s Local Authorities. We would like to thank all of our partners and colleagues for their continued support. Together, we've achieved incredible milestones, and we're excited to continue to work collectively to adopt a 'Once for Scotland' approach to digital transformation

This also means its my 9th year leading a great team in driving digital transformation across Scottish local government, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together. From the early days of building trust and collaboration across councils, to now being a recognised force for innovation and delivery, the journey has been nothing short of remarkable. Looking ahead, the next year, and the next nine year, are full of possibility! AI, cyber resilience, and smarter infrastructure are no longer buzzwords, they’re the building blocks of the future. The Digital Office will continue to be the trusted partner for councils, helping them navigate complexity, unlock value, and deliver better outcomes for citizens. We’re not just marking an anniversary, we’re setting the tone for what’s next.”

Born from the collective vision of council Chief Executives across Scotland for something that was the first of its kind in the UK. I was honoured to be hired alongside Martyn Wallace to help bring that vision to life. Since then, the Digital Office has grown through collaboration, supporting councils and partnership working to provide collective digital leadership across the country. There have been many highlights and successes along the way, and it’s been a privilege to serve and work alongside such dedicated colleagues.
